Yes she was, but in her own way. She believed in a single God. Believing was something private for her. She didn't share her beliefs with anybody. She didn't go to church or did any other community praying. She made her own interpretation of the religious rules. This suited her character as Barbara didn't like to be told how she had to lead her life, not even by a vicar or priest.

For Barbara believing was seeking comfort in times when she was lonely or feeling down. I think she wrote in her diaries about her prayers, but I couldn't read the diaries, therefore I am not sure.
Only once she asked me to pray with her. That was on the day we got engaged.

(thanks to Natalie for the translation)

Hi Rob,

Actually, after the death of Barbara, there was a hot debate that whether Barbara being a Catholic who committed suicide should be served with a Catholic funeral.

In the end, the Catholic Diocese of Hong Kong declared that after taking into consideration of the fact that Barbara had called her friends before her death, it appeared that Barbara had tried to get help and did not mean to kill herself. Eventually, she was allowed to be served with the Catholic funeral. In the funeral, the Father declared that Barbara's death was the plan of God.

However, the fans of Barbara are quite confused. Every year, her fans in HK organize a group worship in a tample in HK where an ancestor's plate showing Barbara's name has been set up.

I, not being a Catholic or Christian, do not know what kind of worship is appropriate.

Would you please advise, thanks.

I was very suprised to read that Barbara visited temples to seek advice. It is not the Barbara I knew. I suspect she did this to keep up her image in HK.

Hi Rob,

In the letters to her family, Barbara wrote that she went to Wong Tai Sin Tample in HK and other tamples in South-east Asian countries during her show performance to seek guidance from different gods and goddess. She also sought advice from from different fortune tellers about her relation with Kent. She also sought advice from the fortune tellers if Sheila's birthday time matches with those of her uncle (Mr Roderic Chan) before they got married.

Did Barbara visit any tample in China Town or visit any fortune teller with you?

Do you think that Barbara believed in a single God?

Thank you for this information. I didn't know this. Like everything that happened in HK, it all seems so unreal to me.

(continued-2)
However, Ms Cheng was very busy at that moment and caught up with many things so she couldn't talk to her then. Before Ms Cheng had a chance to talk to Barbara again, the tragedy happened. Ms Cheng was so regretful that together with other Christians, they established the "Home for Artists" so that Artists can get to know Jesus Christ and support one another in such a stressful entertainment business. This story is also recorded in the website below http://www.barbarayung.net/report/report016.htm
To this date, many artists have become Christians and found comfort and meaning in their lives from the "Home for Artists". I'm telling you this because I want you to know that because of Barbara many artists have become Christians and got the support and love from God. Hope this would bring some comfort to you and others.

With a grateful heart,
Lucy

(Continued-1) - (sorry my message is so long that I have to cut it into several entries.)

Also, I have been wanting to tell you (just in case you didn't know yet) that an organization called "Home for Artists 藝人之家" (also named "Artists Christian Fellowship) was established because of Barbara. What happened was right before the tragedy, Barbara called up a Christian lady, Ms Cheng Ming Ming (鄭明明)and wanted to talk to her.

Hi Rob,

Thanks very much for all your sharings. I am deeply touched by your love story with Barbara. I spent my secondary school years in England and my uncle had a Chinese take-away which I somtimes helped out on the weekends, so I can really relate to the situations you described in many of your stories. I can almost imagine what the rooms upstairs of the Fish & Chips are like and many more.

Rob. U said Barbara's mother was not the one that cause the breakup. So, if both u & Barbara love each other so much and are so close, why do you all break up?
