Not long ago, Yung Mei Ling, who played the charming Huang Rong in The Legend of the Condor Heroes, visited Singapore alongside Kent Tong upon invitation. The moment the news broke, devoted fans flocked to the airport overnight to welcome their idols, eagerly awaiting a glimpse of their presence. Such is the cost of "chasing stars."
Recently, a certain singer held a fan meet-and-greet at a newspaper's auditorium. Enthusiastic fans packed the venue to the brim, leaving no room to move. Photographers were busy snapping away, consuming reels of film. Some fans even handed over personal letters, fully expressing their admiration. However, as the event ended, it was discovered that posters on the walls, record covers, and cassette tapes had all mysteriously disappeared. This act of opportunistic theft exposed the less glamorous side of fandom, revealing the true nature of some fans.
If the raw passion and enthusiasm behind "star-chasing" were instead directed toward academic pursuits, respecting the elderly, or fostering personal growth, achieving meaningful goals would not be difficult.
