Tang Zhenye and Barbara Yung started their relationship when they co-starred in the drama Legend of the unknowns 十三妹 last year. Their love grew slowly. After these days of cultivation, they have blossomed into love. It seems that there is a bright future ahead. Although their close relationship was public news, it has only been in the past three or four months that they officially admitted to being in love. Barbara Yung does not deny that Kent (Tang's English name) is her best boyfriend till now. As for whether she is Kent's best girlfriend? "You go and ask. This is his personal opinion. I can't speak for him” she said in a gentle tone.
Pushing Questions Back and Forth
When it comes to questions about her relationship with Kent, Barbara handles them with the same discretion. Coincidentally, Kent’s response is almost identical. He says, “Barbara’s a great girl. She treats me well, and I treat her well, too. You’re asking if I’m her best boyfriend—why not ask her?”
If one were to follow their advice to keep asking each other, it might never yield a clear answer, as they both remain subtly reserved. This restraint is surprising, especially since Barbara grew up in the UK and has a Westernized openness. Yet, in matters of romance, she’s surprisingly cautious. Unlike his previous relationship with Deborah Moore, Kent is more guarded this time.
Recently, both Barbara and Kent were invited to a ceremony in Asia and returned shortly after to star as lovers in The foundation 决战玄武门. This marks their first on-screen reunion since Legend of the unknowns .
Career and Romance
When asked if working with Kent feels any different now compared to their previous collaboration, Barbara thought for a moment before answering. “We’ve only been filming for a few days, and we haven’t shared many scenes yet, so I can’t say there’s any particular feeling,” she says, adding that the period setting and roles in this drama differ from Legend of the unknowns, which was a Qing Dynasty costume drama. The background of the times is different, and the characters are also different. These are the most obvious differences”.
"Do you have any intimate scenes in the play?"
Barbara coyly replies, “What do you mean by ‘intimate’?”
"For example, talking about love, even kissing.”
She then clarifies, “This is a costume drama, so it won’t go too far. Besides, I don’t know how it’s all arranged.” She admits that portraying on-screen lovers with Kent still feels somewhat unnatural.
On Career Luck and Fame
Asked if she feels lucky with her acting opportunities, Barbara is modest, saying, “Please don’t compare me to seasoned stars. I’m still a newcomer. Right now, newer actors are getting more opportunities, which may be due to company policies. Still, I acknowledge that I’m fortunate, and I must work harder—I can’t always rely on luck.”
When asked if she believes she rose to fame faster than Kent did when he started, she replies, “There’s no way to compare. I’ve only been acting for about a year, and I still have much to learn. Fame is something audiences determine, not something I can assess myself.” She believes male and female actors can’t be compared directly, and with so many new faces in the industry, someone with talent might emerge and captivate the audience even faster.
No Plans for Marriage Yet
Reflecting on her past relationship with Huang Jinwei, who now married Kam Shum 沈金玲, she says she has moved on and doesn’t wish to bring it up. Kent also prefers not to dwell on it; for them, their relationship is more of a test of their feelings for each other.
When asked about marriage plans, Barbara says, “My career has just begun, and marriage isn’t something I’m considering right now. If I were to think about it, it would be at least two years down the road. But plans can change—it could be two years, or maybe another two after that.”
Kent adds, “I’m currently paying for a car and a house, so I don’t have the finances for a wedding anytime soon. Even if I wanted to, I’d still need her agreement first.”
Kent recently bought a small two-seater sports car, earning it the nickname “mother-in-law deterrent,” since it can’t fit another passenger. However, he recently purchased a larger car with room for five, suggesting that his financial concerns may be exaggerated. Ultimately, the real question is whether she’s willing to agree. That’s what matters most.

他说:「我现在又要养车又 要供楼,那有足够银发人过门 ,起码好几年至想这个,就是我 再心急,也要她同意家俾我至可 以成事。」
阿KENT年前供了一节两人座位的小跑车,是名符其实的两座位的小跑车,是名符其实的「赶绝外母型」,要加多个人也不可以,最近他再供多部车轮良・载客量也增至五码,看来他说自己经济有限不过是说笑而已
